Fishing
You can post your ‘blogs’ here on how ‘Nant Moel’ is fishing, it would be helpful to leave valuable information on what fly and method you use to catch fish and the number caught.
Where is ‘Nant Moel’, here are the map reference that can be input into ‘Google Earth’ to show you where the reservoir is situated ( Latitude 51°45’12.04″N, Longtitude 3°28’44.46″W)
This ‘blog’ has been created hopefully to enhance every members fishing at ‘Nant Moel’. A valid discussion on the type of fly, method (dry/wet), bank/boat to make eveyones fishing enjoyable and rewarding.
Brian….
Just a quick note to you all Welsh Water has informed me that they intend to carry out repairs to the damaged road that Alwyn has caused. They are going to start the repairs in early Febuary and should be completed before we start stocking. This Season I have changed me shift pattern and hope to put more effort into the club and will concetrate on making the grassed area’s more presentable, be warned I will be recruting labour.
We would like to remind members that if, as a fully paid up member of this association you witness any illegal fishing or breaching of the club rules you have the right and the duty to:-
1) Ask to see the member’s license.
2) Request that that member stops the illegal practice.
3) Report the incident (including name and license number) in writing to the committee.
4) Make any personal complaint/grievance to the committee by email to
secretary@aadaa.co.uk
By letter addressed to the committee and left in the signing in box.
We cannot turn a blind eye to any illegal practices that we witness because if we do then we are just as guilty ourselves.
We also have a responsibility to promote and support the club in its endeavours to improve the environment in and around the areas that we fish. There is a simple formula that we all need to be mindful of
Accessible fishing + increased membership + shared responsibility = more fish and better fishing.

Secretary
Members just to keep you all informed I have managed to renegotiate our lease with Welsh Water. We no longer rent Bwlafa or Nant-Hir resovours. Our new lease will cost us in the region of £470 yearly instead of the £1400 we were paying. Also I have secured a new supplier of fish at a reduced rate. Bibury our old supplier was charging us near £700 per 250 fish. Our new supplier will provide the same quality and quantity for £570. So all round the club should be able to make huge savings this year providing you the members with even better fishing etc.
A weather widget has been added to the site, this provides useful information about temperature, wind direction & speed, humidity and air pressure.
The gates to both car parks will be locked this season; this is to prevent ‘joy-rider’ destroying them. The key will be the same as the boating ‘shed’. New members can purchase a key when they obtain their permit.
I have installed an ‘anti-spam’ filter to stop unwanted ‘jumk’ being submitted to the site.
What a site by far the best ‘local angling’ site I’ve seen, weather information and security. Well done I wish you well for the new season.
Remember that permit prices are reduced to all new and old members up to the end of April.
Hi guys well done on the new website! Was a regular member with aadaa until two years ago, looking to buy a licence in March this year. Just wondering wats changed since then with Nant moel and how was the fishing last season. Rhys
The weather was poor last season, the rain in September put pay to a good end of season. Permits are reduced! there are two boats for use by members.
Hi all take a look at the new ‘Forum’ page and please start to post there!
Cracking size fish gone in for the start of the season lads. Sunday March 1st is just days away. Don’t forget to book in/out and lock any gate,s doors behind you. Take you litter home. cheeers Dai
how offen will it be stocked ?
Stocking takes place on a regular basis, the average stock consists of 250 1.5lb – 2.5lb rainbow trout from Exmoor Trout Farm. The association prides its self on the quality of the fishing provided at Nant Moel. This is NOT the same as a local fishery where you are almost guaranteed to catch fish, this is a natural fly water where fishing on times can been ‘electric’.
r u able to buy a day licence
how well has it been fishing up there so far??
The fishing is going really well up ‘Nant Moel’ with a large number of fish being caught on CDC buzzers and beetles fished static or slow. Other successful flies have been Olive Fritz, Small Montanas, Black and Peacock and Diawl Bach. Lures still work but the fish are now turned on to their natural diet so imitative flies are better.
